WE ARE IN ALASKA!!!!

Today (05/29) we set foot back onto US soil around 4:15pm Alaska time, which is 3 hours behind central time.  We continued 100+ miles west to the small town of Tok, pronounced like "poke", where we are all set on our campsite for at least 1 night and maybe 2.  Currently there are only 2 other rigs in this campground. Last night we stayed at a camground just east of Whitehorse, Yukon.  We have attached a picture of a moose that walked through our campground 2 nights ago and then some woodland bison and caribou we drove past along the road.

I think we have seen 6 bears now, 3-4 moose, 20+ bison, 6+ caribou, rock sheep, numerous deer, a couple porcupines and lots of ducks, geese and swans.

Since we left The Farm we have logged 3432 miles, we have been averaging 10-12mpg, which is much better than the 8-9 we were getting bucking the winds in ND and MT  Rosalie can say she is a seasoned BIG RIG driver as she has logged 3-4 hours driving.  She can sleep when I drive, but I just can't relax enough when she is driving to get any shut-eye, well that and I don't want to miss any scenery.  The mountains and other scenery the last 2 days has been magnificent.  Several big lakes we passed the last 2 days are still frozen and there is still snow in shaded areas and ravines.

Picture of moose than swan across the small pond and walked about 30 yards from our campsite.  Photos of campsite were posted a couple days ago.

  1. Hooray for being in Alaska! I laughed when I read about how you can't relax enough to sleep when Aunt Rosalie drives because Steve is the same way when I drive :)
